WestieMed Celebrates 10 Years!
Ten
years ago, it was just a dream...
Find a way to help sick or injured
Westies in rescue get adopted despite their medical issues. Find a way to pay a
portion of their vet bills -- costly bills that would prove prohibitive for many
potential adopters. And most challenging of all, find a way to raise the money
to do all of this.
That was then, and through a lot of
hard work the dream became a reality. Now, WestieMed is celebrating its 10th
anniversary. In the intervening years, WestieMed has helped almost 170
Westies find their way to loving new forever homes, despite life-threatening
illnesses, devastating injuries, chronic infections, much-needed surgeries and
countless other roadblocks to adoption.
Funding to accomplish this mission has
come through tax-deductible donations to WestieMed from many generous
individuals, rescue clubs, foundations and others who are unabashed lovers of
this amazing breed of little white dogs with the large Westie attitude. And it
has come through sales of merchandise in the Gift Shop on our website and on
Cafe Press, as well as through our annual raffles, eBay auctions and yearly
Westie Walks in various parts of the country.
In this way, WestieMed has been able to
provide nearly $150,000 in funding for ill or injured rescued Westies since its
inception 10 years ago.
It's an achievement that merits
celebration, and the WestieMed Board of Directors -- all of whom volunteer their
time and talents throughout the years -- have big plans for this landmark
anniversary in 2010. So if you love Westies, you'll definitely want to be part
of the celebration!
Stay tuned – it’s going to be a great
year!

Experiencing the feeling of pride and joy while
watching rescued Westies thrive physically and emotionally in new loving
adoptive homes is a powerful reward for anyone involved in rescue.
Sadly, due to the high cost of veterinary care and the
limited budgets of most rescuers, not all rescued Westies are given an
opportunity for restored health and a better life. Rescuers are often
placed in the difficult position of making decisions based solely on
available resources.
WestieMed strives to offer financial assistance to
rescuers nationwide allowing them to foster, rehabilitate and nurture as
many Westies in rescue situations as possible. |

is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, any other organization or breed club.
It is only through donations made directly to WestieMed that we are able to
fulfill our mission of helping rescued Westies in need of medical attention. |
