Westie Walk was founded in 2001 by Ohio cousins Jean Detrick and Beverly Clawson-Ressler. Jean and Beverly organized the Westie Walk as a way to demonstrate their passion and love for Westies and to bring together Westie owners and their friends for fun, fellowship, and education while benefiting a worthy cause...WestieMed. Westie Walk has become an annual event, usually the 2nd Saturday of each October. In 2006, the Westie Walk was expanded to Virginia.
A new Westie Walk will be held in Washington State in 2009.
